After getting in late last night, it was time for another late morning. Once we were all up and ready to go we found ourselves at a restaurant called Caragh's Restaurant with typical Irish fare. After lunch we ventured down some of the streets of Killarney and eventually ended up at the St. Mary's Cathedral. There were very few people there as compared to St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin making it very nice to enjoy peacefully and take lots of pictures. After the cathedral we ventured into Killarney National Park which was right next to the cathedral. The national park is over 10,000 hectares but we walked about 2.6km to the Ross Castle within the park. The castle was built in the 15th century and once was home to a wealthy family. Over the years it became useful for other things and eventually was turned over to the state. It was rebuilt starting in 1970 and finally open to the public for tours in 1993. After walking back into downtown Killarney we did a little shopping and then rested up at the hotel before going out to dinner at Mac's of Main Street, dessert at Caragh's (where we had lunch) and then some drinks at Scruffy's bar.
